The College of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University in Perth Western Australia
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University in Perth Western Australia, is offering a three-year residency training program in veterinary anaesthesiology and analgesia commencing in January and June 2018. We are also looking for two interns (1 year position) in veterinary anaesthesia, also starting January 2018.
Residency applicants should have completed a one year rotating internship or equivalent private practice experience (2 years) in order to be registerable with the American or / and European Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia College.
This program is offered in accordance with the ACVAA and ECVAA training standards. Trainees are supervised by two ACVAA Diplomates, two ECVAA Diplomates and supported by two clinical instructors, and four anaesthesia technicians. Residents will be exposed to a diverse case load during their clinical training, including equine, farm animals and small animals through our busy teaching hospital. https://theanimalhospital.com.au/
Extension of clinical experiences via intramural and extramural externships is also encouraged. Didactic courses include journal club and textbook rounds. In addition, residents participate in college-wide seminar and morbidity and mortality rounds.
Residents also have the opportunity to participate in several teaching roles, including clinical and didactic rounds with rotation students as well as lab instruction.
As required by the ACVAA training standards and the graduate program, residents are required to complete at least one research project during their residency. It is expected that residents will present these findings at a scientific meeting and that a manuscript be accepted prior to completion of the program.
