Tenure Track Faculty Position Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia

The University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) invites applications for position in Veterinary Anesthesiology and Analgesia. This position will be at the assistant (tenure track) or associate professor (with tenure) ranks with an expectation of 20-30% of the appointment devoted to research and the remainder of the assignment focused on clinical and laboratory teaching of undergraduate students and interns. UCVM employs a distributed veterinary teaching hospital and clinical rotation teaching will occur in partner specialty practices.
Qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and advanced clinical training in veterinary anesthesiology, with board certification or eligibility (ACVAA or ECVAA). A graduate degree is considered an asset. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The appointment will be at the level of assistant or associate professor. An associate professor must show evidence of significant teaching experience in a University setting and productivity in research.

Applicants at the assistant professor level must present evidence of an on-going research program beyond the doctoral dissertation, a publication record, evidence of successful teaching, and evidence of academic engagements in professional and other communities.
Applicants at the associate professor level must provide evidence of an established, externally funded research program, a strong publication record, evidence of successful teaching and graduate supervision, and evidence of established academic engagements in professional and other communities.
UCVM has approximately 70 faculty members, 130 staff, 125 DVM students, 110 graduate students, 25 post-doctoral fellows, and 15 advanced clinical trainees. UCVM’s DVM program provides a comprehensive general veterinary education to approximately 30-32 students per year. The program is an integrated core-elective program, with enhanced educational opportunities in defined areas that combine discipline-based courses with extensive on-campus and off-campus experiential learning. UCVM is a research-intensive faculty with expanding research, graduate education, and advanced clinical trainee programs.
