The Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Preventive Medicine at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, has an opening for a clinical track position in Anesthesiology at the rank of Assistant Professor. Overall expectations within the anesthesiology service are to make significant contributions to and enhance the quality of the college programs in teaching and the hospital operation and to advance anesthesia research in our department.
Clinical responsibilities include providing anesthesia service for large, small, and exotic animal patients of the University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals. This includes pre-operative assessment and management, intra-operative management and post-operative care. It will also include a share of the after-hours duty with the tenure and clinical-track faculty members in the service. Major teaching responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction of professional veterinary students and training of residents. The successful candidate will be expected to initiate and participate in collaborative research that are in keeping with the investigator’s training, knowledge, experience, and interest and with the Department’s long-range plans. Opportunities exist for participation in graduate programs and collaboration in established research programs in other colleges and within the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The individual is also expected to support our referring veterinarians through care of their patients, consultation, and communications. Expected service activities include committees within the Department, College and University, local, state, national, and international professional organizations, and editorial service for scientific and trade journals.
Required Qualifications are DVM or equivalent degree from an approved institution. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with faculty, technicians, students, staff, referring veterinarians, and clients is essential.
