Residency in Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia starting July 29th, 2026 (2 positions)

We seek two enthusiastic and dedicated individuals interested in anesthesia and analgesia to apply for our 3-year ACVAA approved residency program. This program is designed to provide advanced clinical, non-degree, post-doctoral training in anesthesiology and pain management.

The School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) at the University of California, Davis is consistently ranked amongst the best in the world. The Veterinary Medical Centers within the SVM currently have over 140 residents in more than 45 different training programs. The anesthesia service includes 20 highly trained veterinary technicians, 5 residents, 8 ACVAA diplomates and 1 additional residency trained faculty. Our service case load (approximately 5500 per year), variety and complexity, coupled with excellent facilities and resources, provide ample opportunities to develop advanced knowledge and skills essential to the practice of veterinary anesthesiology.

Candidates should be US citizens, US permanent residents, or foreign nationals eligible for a J1 scholar visa (and at the time of application not be subject to holds, bars or in-country rules) or Canadian/ Mexican citizens eligible for a TN visa. Applicants will also need to arrange copies of transcripts (officially translated into English, if applicable), English language scores (if applicable) and three (3) letters of reference to be sent directly to UC Davis. Davis is a welcoming College town about 15 miles from the state capitol, Sacramento. Within a short drive are world class vineyards, mountains, a beautiful coastline, and the vibrant city of San Francisco. First year resident salary is $53,965 per annum plus benefits (health, vision, dental) and 24 days of vacation per year.
