The University of Minnesota is looking for an individual to fill a one year position as a Clinical Instructor in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the Veterinary Medical Center.
Duties: The primary responsibility is to provide seamless supervision to ongoing daytime cases and to our technical staff during weeknight emergency call shifts, and after-hours/on-call emergencies. Work hours are Monday through Thursday, 4 pm to 10 pm in hospital, on-call (back-up for primary clinicians) until 7 am. The position also shares holiday on-call (backup) with the other Anesthesiology clinicians. Weekends or primary emergencies are NOT part of duties.
Team and service: The University of Minnesota Veterinary Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine section includes 4 ACVAA Diplomates, 2 residents, and 10 technicians. We provide anesthetic care to approximately four thousand patients per year. Small animals account for the majority of our caseload. We are equipped with state of the art multiparametric monitors (few with the capability of PPV), an A5 work-station with complete spirometry and ventilation modes allowing for tailored ventilation strategies and an ultrasound used for ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia and point of care testing.
Requirements: Completion of ACVAA/ECVAA residency training is required. The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously with large, small, and exotic animals.
