Pride Veterinary Centre is the central small animal hospital for the Scarsdale Veterinary Group, a multi-species practice employing over 300 staff across 13 sites in the Midlands. At Pride we offer specialist services in anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue, and orthopedic surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology and dermatology, and on-site hydro- and physiotherapy. The state-of-the-art hospital provides 24/7 veterinary care, supported by a dedicated night team. We work closely with the University of Nottingham, with the veterinary students rotating through first opinion and referral services at Pride. We are located at the edge of Derby city centre with good transport links to major cities via road and rail networks. East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport offer convenient access to domestic and international destinations. The beautiful Peak District is just around the corner.

The team
The Anaesthesia Department comprises three Diplomates (two ECVAA and one ACVAA), one residency-trained fellow and two anaesthesia interns. We are a young team of anaesthetists who enjoy working together. The department is supported by a team of experienced theatre nurses. We provide a high standard of care through a great working relationship with other departments.
The role
We are looking for a qualified veterinary anaesthetist to join our team. You will be involved in the day to day clinical tasks of anaesthetising patients, assisting other departments with analgesia and critical care, and participate in the out of hours rota. We see a wide variety of interesting cases – mainly dogs and cats but the occasional exotic and pet farm species. Pride has an on-site pain clinic if you are interested in this field. The anaesthesia team runs weekly tutorials and journal clubs, and the hospital has a weekly clinical club on many different subjects.

Required skills and experience
1. Residency in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia (ECVAA or ACVAA)
2. Member of the RCVS
3. Fluent English
4. Good communication skills
5. Team player

We offer an attractive salary and CPD package with generous holidays. The applicant must have a veterinary degree registrable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. We welcome applications from Diplomates of the ECVAA or ACVAA, as well as candidates who have completed college-recognized residencies in anaesthesia. The position can be part-time or full-time.
