The Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) seeks enthusiastic and dedicated applicants for a tenure-track position in Veterinary Medicine with a focus on veterinary anesthesia and pharmacology at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Duties:

Teaching: Teaching responsibilities will include coordinating and instructing our Veterinary Pharmacology and Principles of Veterinary Anesthesia courses as well as contributing lectures in other courses such as Veterinary Physiology, Toxicology, and Pathology.

Research: Our faculty work closely with those at Colorado State University and opportunities to collaborate in research and teaching abound. Some topics of current research include canine sports medicine, hibernation physiology, and research with the CSU pharmacology core.

Service: You will be expected to advise veterinary students, and additional opportunity exists to advise M.S. and Ph.D. students in veterinary medicine, biology and wildlife, chemistry, or fisheries. UAF operates a growing veterinary MRI referral service, which offers opportunity for clinical anesthesia practice, hands-on instruction, and research.

The Department of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) provides high quality education, research and service in veterinary medicine and the biomedical sciences. Faculty from several disciplines work collaboratively under the One Health paradigm, striving for combined optima in human, animal, and environmental health.

Requirements:

This position requires the possession of a DVM degree (or equivalent) and advanced training in anesthesia, pharmacology or toxicology (internship, residency, and/or graduate degree). Teaching experience is highly desirable, but not required. Exemplary communication skills are required, as is the ability to work with a small team, be flexible, and live in a remote population center. Ability to effectively mentor and assist students in pursuing a related field of study.
