Institution:  Veterinary Dental Specialties

Veterinary Dental Specialties is searching for a full-time anesthesiologist to join our team.  We are the largest veterinary dental clinic in the world, with 18 practices and 12 veterinarians.  Despite our size, we are still privately owned by practicing veterinary dentists.  This allows for a family feel and more flexibility for our employees.  The basis of this position is managing clinical cases, but teaching and research would be supported by the practice.

Position Details:

a) Schedule: 4 days a week 8-9 hours a day

b) 2 weeks’ vacation (if more is wished, it is negotiable with salary below)

c) Location(s):

Of the 16 days a month of work (an occasional 17th will occur depending on the calendar)

Primary: 5775 Chesapeake Court, San Diego, CA 92123: 12 days

Secondary: 1350 Reynolds Ave Suite 116 Irvine, CA 92614: 4 days (not necessarily consecutive days)

Tertiary: Dublin (CA) 2 days every other month

Potential: Other locations

 

Travel time will be allowed as part of the job to a certain extent other than the primary and secondary locations.  Living in North County San Diego would mean a 20-30 min commute (depending on where and traffic) to SD and 45 minutes -1 hour to Irvine. However, if the candidate would prefer to be closer to our San Diego practice, housing is available near Irvine.

 

 

Primary responsibilities

a) Review medical records and make recommendations on perioperative and postoperative care for surgical patients (Approximately 80 a week)

b) Indirect monitoring of routine cases, providing support to the technical staff ½ the days in San Diego location

c) Direct monitoring of patients with more severe comorbidities.

d) training of staff and improvement of protocols

e) Telemedicine for our other clinics.

f) Occasional free CE lectures for local DVMs and staff

g) Be a resource for other clinics in the area as possible.

 

Remuneration:

Salary:

$250,000.00 based on 50 weeks a year. Less is negotiable, but no less than 48 weeks a year.

b) Government mandated benefits, FICA, Medicare, FUTA, California mandated unemployment coverage.

c) Participation in Employer’s Group health plan, Employer contribution $500.00 per month after 90-day probationary period.

d) Participation in Employer paid Vision and Dental plan after 6-month probationary period.

e) Vacation accrual — 2 weeks paid.

f) California Sick Leave

g) Continuing Education benefits $1,500.00, 1-week (4 days) time off for CE.

Participation in Employer Paid Company Profit Sharing Plan after IRS mandated employment and at IRS mandated calculation.

Participation in company 401K employee contribution plan.

 

Potential other sources of income:

CE hosted on site… paid lecture or labs.  We will promote, arrange, and run; you just need to teach.  $1,500.00 a day

Bring something in that we do not currently offer (ultrasound, etc).

If the candidate takes an active role in building the service to need additional AX (I fully expect this in a few years), up to and including training a resident, additional income can be created.
