The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine has an immediate opening for a clinical or tenure track faculty position in Veterinary Anesthesiology. The College is renowned for its clinical education because students in the four-year DVM program spend two full years in clinics. Teaching responsibilities will include didactic/clinical training for professional, graduate and technology students enrolled at the College of Veterinary Medicine, and veterinary anesthesiology resident preparation. Service responsibilities will be shared with three full-time anesthesiologists, one veterinary anesthetist, up to two anesthesia residents, and eight certified veterinary anesthesia technicians. Clinical service includes both small and large animal anesthesia management in a teaching hospital environment and participation in the after-hours emergency service. For the tenure-track position, establishment of an active record of research and scholarly activity is expected. Internal funding opportunities are available to support research endeavors.
Qualified candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in the state of Mississippi. Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia or European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia is preferred. Residency-trained individuals eligible for final certification examination will also be considered. An advanced degree and/or experience in clinical research are desirable, particularly for the tenure track position.
